My bet would be around November 15. Not much yet on the site for winter activities planned, but Wednesday, the Women's are scheduled to begin last week of November. They could have started a few races earlier this month. Good if you're a local, not so good if you come to VT any great distance.

Killington and Okemo probably battle again to see who can open in October, but no matter where you go to VT this time of year your chances of having a large number of selections of paths are poor. That unless it is exposed to cold and they start agriculture dumps of snow or Mother Nature at the beginning of a foot of fresh on Halloween. (We had 4 "on Halloween in '06, so it is not unprecedented.)

It is best to call Stratton and see what their scheduled departure date. My contacts on the ski patrol told me they do not expect to work until Nov.10.

Once it gets pretty cold. I guess mid-November when they can begin to make snow that sticks.
