Sailboats

sailing is fun ..... What are the pros and cons of it ... What should I look for when buying a .... and how difficult is it to learn

Sailing is a sport for you a lot of fun. Since you're new to sailing, I recommend you take courses to develop skills such as boat handling, points of sail, and especially maritime safety and the rules of the road. There USCG sponsored classes that offer certification after passing. Certs with basic security, you will find marinas and charter outfits that will be more cooperative if you are unable to prove the existence of skills beyond novice level.
Teaching Safety at sea is a prerequisite for responsible boating and it is easy to learn anything more if your interest in learning is sincere.
As the high cost of buying a boat, whether for cruising the lake or daysailing local, can be a significant investment, I think its good experience with different boats rental equipment before buying . Then your better informed to make the right choice.
There is an old saying that a boat is just a hole in the water to throw your money. Cost of ownership far exceeds the original purchase price, to consider all the angles first.
I enjoyed the race off the coast of more than 25 years and I've never owned a yacht-chartering was just great and has provided more experience in the variety in the type / size / design of yachts diverse as the property could afford.
Hope this helps answer help-winds and following seas started!

Sailing is the most fun you can have with your clothes! The wind in your hair, the smell of the ocean .... its very attractive. If you have not sailed before, I recommend you go out with experienced sailors and ask lots of questions. There is much to know, and certainly not for everyone. But if you do enjoy it, I'd say go ahead and buy a sailboat! Having a boat can be a money pit, so make sure you get a good deal on a used boat, if you do not worry too much about it. Unless your rich:)

Sailing is great. Volunteer crew and gain experience. Start small and learn to play the wind. Then move to a bigger boat. take a course. Sail and Power Squadron are everywhere and offer courses.

I started sailing on a dull 8 'when I was a kid. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but once I could really run, I was hooked! Since then I have sailed several boats up to about 30 feet long. The most amazing is that once you learn to navigate the dark, will larger boats is a very small adjustment, and a short learning curve.
Here are some tips. Find a place that rents small sailboats. Take a beginner class there and rent a boat a few times. You'll know if you like. When you buy one, for low maintenance you want a fiberglass boat. When boats are compared to a good overview of the wheelhouse. That's all the pulleys, mast, boom, rudder, lines, winches, etc. The difference between low price rigging and rigging of quality is immense. I once built a sailboat, and then reassembles the calibration quality was my biggest expense. If you buy used, I recommend finding one in the best conditions and paying extra for it as opposed to a fixer. The most expensive to buy a boat is a party to both! Good luck and welcome to a great hobby!

sailing is fun!. is not difficult to learn, unless you want race.I learned to sail on a voyage of singlehand SC Tn.you just start with less sail area and experiment.what you should buy depends on what you want to. live there, or just cruise it out of the day.I suggest a little cheap, you can always go bigger or not, when you become addicted

Sailing is the most fun I've ever done before going out and buying a boat and the crew go on a boat for a while so you can get the feel of sailing, learning to navigate and find weather i.
