Kihei Maui

I want to spend a month in Maui next summer. I was once 18 months ago. I stayed at the Banyan in Kihei Maui. I fell in love with snorkeling, perfume, people and way of life. However, I never explored the section of the island north of Lahaina. Would you recommend Kaanapali or Kihei for the atmosphere and snorkeling.

Kaanapali is much more upscale. Major hotels, more green space between them. Kihei has many small communities, the share of the time, and most local residents. I like both gaits. I feel more comfortable in Kihei because I am middle class and are not used to fancy places. But I really like Kaanapali. You do not know what place has better snorkeling.
