China TravelTrip to Chinaa

What kind of converter do I need to recharge my laptop for my next trip to China (Beijing)a

Laptops today have a switching power supply with wide input voltage and you can feed them with anything from 100-240VAC - then look at what is written on your card!

For the shape of the cap, hotels generally have a range of different outlets. US / JP, and type of the EU are very frequent.

Otherwise, any hardware store will sell you an adapter for 10 RMB or more. Good chance that the hotel has a range of adapters for free too.

The last time I was in China was in the mid 80s and the money supply is 220. You'll need a power converter and a plug adapter to use a laptop in the USA. You can get it from any store or mail Franzus. Take extra with you in case it burns, just a suggestion.

China uses 220 volts. Most hotels will allow you to borrow free outlet adapter.

You can buy an adapter to several shops in major cities. I bought one in Beijing for only 5 RMB. Your basis of three three-prong plug will not work in China unless you have a converter to your hotel. That's why you should buy one.

Check your charger, since they are designed for 110 to 220 volts. Do not be a converter for your laptop, you will need a step down transformer. They are smaller than the weight of a couple of books.

Today, power adapters for laptops, digital cameras, cell phones, etc. operate on 100-240V, you only need an adapter easily available at hotels, or a little money almost anywhere. But make sure you check your power adapter to confirm. I fried a cell phone since 2 years, assuming wrongly that its AC adapter could take 220.
