Backpacking Supplies

Backpacking Supplies5 ways to compare hiking suppliesa

I need to know 5 ways to compare two distinct elements of the following for a research project that I am

Stoves
Tents
Sleeping bags
Articles against the weather
Backpacks
Boots
High Tech Gear

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure I understood your question, but do you want to compare 2 of the same type of equipment (2 stoves, for example) rather than 2 different types (eg, stove cons tenta) . Ill respond as if 2 of the same

Camping stoves: -
1. Weight
2. Heating power (usually the time to boil a liter of water)
3. Autonomy of a full load of fuel
4. Fuel Cost
5. Easy to buy food ...
More things like stability, usability, security, etc..

Tents: -
1. Weight
2. Easy Pitching / Radiation
3. Number of people who can sleep in
4. Storage areas
5. Materials (eg, pole materials, the level of waterproofing fabrics, carpets etc. )....

Sleeping Bags: -
1. Note (seasons or comfort index)
2. Weight
3. The filler material (synthetic / Down)
4. Style (mummy-shaped, square, full zip, hood, etc.)
5. Price

Articles against the weather
1. Style (poncho, waterproof zip up, etc.)
2. Equipment (if his breathing or not)
3. Color
4. Cost
5. Heat

Backpacks
1. Size (liters)
2. Pockets (side pockets, no pockets)
3. adjustable waist (if it fits your back)
4. Has waist straps / chest straps
5. Versitility (eg ice ax loops, hydration pack hose hole etc.) ...

Boots
1. Size
2. The materials used
3. Sculptures
4. If she can not accept some gaiters / Cleats
5. Weight

High Tech Gear
Not sure what you mean here, but maybe ..
1. Robustness
2. Does what it says it does

Can not think of others - like i said not sure what you meant

Take a look at http://mungobah.blogspot.com/2008/09/okay-final-list-for-my-solo-trip-into.html

This is my list of my solo hiking supplies canoe I used recently.

Hope that helps.

Stoves: I always measure my BTU by weight. But depending on what you want to do with the stove determines what I am. If I'm just boiling water I'll use an alcohol stove. If I want to simmer I'll take my Jetboil. The long-term use, I'll take white gas or alcohol vs. canned fuel.

Sleeping Bags: How long will it takea How big is the sleeping baga Weighta Is it going to be hot enough to get by with just a blanket zippered fleece or a bag hostela I do not use the bottom ... ever. It's just a pain to maintain and uselss when wet.

WEATHER Gear: Gore-Tex vs. other types. Is this my jacket long enough to cover the bottom of my shorts and avoid having to take my rain pantsa How compressible is the rain geara I'm taking my gaitersa What type of intermediate layer that I wanta Fleece or Primalofta Do I need this intermediate layera Should I use a hooda What I want a big hata The hat is waterproofa Do I need glovesa

Backpacks: How do Ia How much does the pack weigha How does that fit well packa What I want this on me for eight hours a daya Will I use a hydro systema How likely is the pack that need repaira Can I be ina

Boots: Size. Sealing. Sustainability, Media. Fit. Comfort.
